will be tested today with wind gusts expected to exceed 20 mph.
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the area south of the
fire from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with strong, gusty winds, low relative humidity
and high fire danger.
YESTERDAY’S
OPERATIONS: Fire
activity on the perimeter was minimal. Crews continue to patrol the entire fire
area, looking for and extinguishing heat sources.
Forest Road 2901 was graded and watered, restoring it to
pre-incident condition.
TODAY’S
OPERATIONS: Firefighters
continue building a southern containment line across Winter Rim between Hwy. 31
and Forest Road 2901 to protect private property and commercial timber.
Crews are extinguishing any hot spots or smoldering debris
that could threaten containment lines. Stumps and downed logs in the interior
may smolder for some time. Air support was not needed the last two days, but is
readily available.
Fire managers are now repairing the impact of fire
suppression activity, including restoring trails and building water bars to
prevent erosion. Local land management agencies are also assessing fire damage
to natural resources.
Northwest Incident Management Team 12 under Incident Commander
Richy Harrod is managing the wildfire in conjunction with local land management
agencies. Team 12 is adjusting the number of resources to accommodate the
current and expected workload.
EVACUATIONS: A Level 1 (Be Ready) evacuation notification remains in
place for Ana Estates and along Hwy. 31 two miles north of Forest Road 2901 and
extends two miles south of The Lodge at Summer Lake, as well as all of Ana
Estates.
RESTRICTIONS: Highway 31 is open with flaggers managing through traffic
during fire operations. Motorists should use extra care, expect delays and use
alternate routes if possible.
CLOSURES: Fremont Point Lookout was not
affected, however, it is closed through August 1 to allow unrestricted
suppression and recovery traffic in the area.
SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS: Through traffic is returning to
normal levels along Hwy. 31. Please use care and watch for slower-moving vehicles,
including fire and ranch equipment. Please use extreme care with any heat
source, spark or open flame.
