🔥Wildfire🔥 - The Agency 2 fire was reported yesterday on the Chiloquin Ranger District (5 miles NW of Chiloquin) at approximately 3:20 pm and was 3.5 acres when resources got on scene. The fire was burning in dense lodpepole pine with snags and heavy dead and downed material. The fire grew to 5 acres overnight. With firefighter safety a concern, fire managers made the decision to use firing operations as the best direct attack method to control the spread of the fire, and keep the perimeter of the fire safely within the road system. Firing operations were completed today keeping the fire at 25 acres. Smoke will continue to be visible from Hwy 62.
This is the 7th human caused fire in the Chiloquin area since the official end of fire season. Until we get some significant weather the conditions in our area are almost as dry as they were in August. If you're going to be out in the woods please be diligent and extinguish any warming, cooking, or camp fires before you leave the area!
