July 8, 2017 Ana Fire Update

#AnaFire  was reported at approx. 3:00 p.m. to Lakeview Interagency Dispatch. It is located near Summer Lake Refuge near Mile Post 67. Smoke is impacting Highway 31. Multiple engines, air tankers, helicopters and hand crews are responding. Structures are threatened. Ana Fire is currently 500+ acres burning in sage brush and juniper.

Smoke column can be seen from Valley Falls and Paisley area.

#AnaFire in South Central Oregon is currently 947 acres and burning in sage brush and juniper. It is located near Summer Lake Refuge near Mile Post 67.

Multiple engines, air tankers, helicopters, dozers and hand crews have responded and are suppressing the fire. Structures in the area are being protected by fire crews. Smoke is impacting Highway 31.

The South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership (SCOFMP) is currently responding to a fast-moving wildfire near Summer Lake, Ore. The Ana Fire is reported at 947 acres and is located between milepost 64 – 71 on Highway 31. One outbuilding has been reported lost. Multiple agencies have deployed fire resources to the incident and are actively suppressing the blaze with air tankers, helicopters, engines, dozers and hand crews.

The Ana Fire is burning in steep, rocky terrain and is being driven by gusty downslope winds creating challenging conditions for fire crews in the area. Additional resources are being mobilized tonight and tomorrow to strengthen the suppression efforts. Approximately 150 Firefighters are working to protect structures in the area and minimize further spread south along Highway 31.

Road travelers on Highway 31 between Summer Lake and Paisley should be aware of decreased visibility due to smoke, intermittent road closures, and emergency response vehicles in the area. Additional information will be disseminated as it becomes available.
